I hope you enjoyed today’s readings! If you couldn’t make it to the diner today (I know traffic left something to be desired), no worries. You can listen to today’s show here.
In this one, I read “The Scandal in Bohemia” and the first chapter of The Inimitable Jeeves. I think those stories suit each other in the way Mean Girls suits Heathers–one is the spiritual successor of the other. Not those stories specifically, but the Holmes series and the Jeeves and Wooster series. PG Wodehouse, the writer of the latter, was a fan of the former, which shows up in his work in the most delightful ways despite being near opposite in tone. The central pairs have some similarities, but I’ll leave that discussion for another post and another show.
In the midst of my reading, I also played some music! First was “Preludes, Book 2” performed by Paul Pitman and composed by Robert Schumann, then was “Untitled (solo contraguitar)” by Kevin Kastning and Carl Clements, and finally was “It’s Not the Heat (It’s the Humidity)” by Yair Yona. They’re all excellent songs I’ve got to recommend.
See you next week!
(Oh, one more reminder: if there’s a song you’d like me to play or a poem or story you’d like me to read, feel free to email me at email@example.com.)
