During Spring Break while I was visiting family in the Bay Area, My cousin and I stopped by KALX 90.7 FM, the college radio station for the University of California at Berkeley. Despite my stop by the station being entirely impromptu, I was warmly greeted by the staff and volunteers at the station and given an extremely informative tour.
I was shown the station’s multiple studios as well as their massive music library. I even learned a few things about the Bay Area punk and hard-core scene, and a Band called Crass when my cousin saw some of the records that were on the shelves.
At the end of the tour, I spoke with the station operations manager, and was given a bag of KALX memorabilia including a bunch of stickers that will be finding their way to the sticker wall in the KHDX booth soon.
