This is the long awaited finale to the three part series all about the Spanish Flu. In this episode, we detail the third wave of the disease (and a possible fourth???) before discussing the impacts of this disease on the economy, medicine, technology, and society in 1919 and 1920. I have put many many hours into research and structuring this story, and I hope that my storytelling has only gotten better over time. It’s been a joy on one hand but also terrible to learn about how bad this disease was and how it mirrors the coronavirus in many ways. Thank you for joining me on this gruesome journey and I really hoped you learned something, because I sure know I did!
Here’s the list of songs at the end:
Jesus Is Coming Soon – Blind Willie Johnson
Influenza (1918) – Reuben Tholakele Caluza
The 1919 Influenza Blues – Essie Jenkins
Coronavirus Rhapsody – Adrian Grimes
COVID-19 – The Taylors
