This week I read the short story “The Mask” from The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers in 1895. It follows Alec, an artist in France, and his friends Boris and Geneviève, who are married. Alec still loves Geneviève, but she chose Boris and he tries to respect that. Eventually, Alec makes the mistake of reading the titular play The King in Yellow, which is known to ruin the lives of its readers. Alec gets off easy in that respect, but I won’t get too much further into that. You can read it here!

See you after Thanksgiving!
