Hello Sugar Dove Fans! We hope that you’ve been having a groovy summer. Recently I’ve been hard at work restoring episodes 1-4 (Steppin’ Out, Going Public, Having Flown, and Goin’ Coconuts), which due to many beginner mistakes, were unsalvageable in their original form. I also fixed the stereo mixing issues that were present in episode 11 (New Directions). For the former, this involved rerecording everything from scratch and adding instrumental tracks that weren’t present before. But I decided to keep the scripts and setlists exactly as they were (even if I did have a slightly loose definition of disco back then…) Now you can finally listen to all five of these in their brand new glory!
(New instrumentals: You’re Mine – The Osmonds (1979) and Two of Us – Mac & Katie Kissoon (1976))
(New instrumentals: Pipeline – Bruce Johnston (1977) and Falling In Love With You – Andy Gibb (1980))
(New instrumentals: You Stepped Into My Life – The Bee Gees (1976) and Living To Feel The Magic – Marmalade (1977))
(New instrumentals: You Bring Me Sunshine – Donny & Marie Osmond (1978) and I Can’t Believe It’s True – David Meece (1978))
(For context on me restoring episode 11: the radio transmission and typical 1960s stereo mixing apparently don’t agree, removing instruments/vocals from some of the songs because I didn’t set it to “mono”. That issue has been fixed in this version)
Thankyouthankyouthankyou again for being such a loyal audience! I cannot wait to finally get into the booth once more to bring you more deep cuts out of the ’60s-’70s time capsule.
