Hello Everyone! In this episode, I look at Kabir Das’s compositions. He was a saint/poet in the 15th Century during the time of the Delhi Sultanate. He was born a Muslim, but he found the other religious practices of India fascinating, so he composed music which mixed theology and philosophy across religious lines. His songs in particular bring the higher philosophical aspects of religion to the local level, since they were mostly written in Hindi. His songs also often are sung in a variety of musical styles, from classical Hindustani to more folk styles. Hope you enjoy!
